People who had tickets to see incomparable fiddler Natalie MacMaster at the Cowichan Peforming Arts Centre Thursday night, March 12, were disappointed as the Province of B.C. moved to cancel all gatherings with more than 250 people earlier in the afternoon.
MacMaster’s show was set to be packed, and would have well exceeded that number.
The Arts Centre noted the cancellation on its website:
“And Acoustic Evening with Natalie MacMaster has been cancelled, following a directive from the B.C. Provincial Health Officer regarding the cancellation of all public gatherings of over 250 people.
“The Cowichan Valley Regional District has obligations to comply with this directive and we do understand the disappointment and inconvenience this will cause our patrons.
“The measures are necessary to protect the public and reduce the risk of exposure to the COVID -19 virus in public places.
“Patrons will receive a full refund of their purchased tickets to this event.”
So far this is the only show in their lineup that the Performing Arts Centre has noted as cancelled, however ticket holders for upcoming shows such as the Completely Creedence Tribute show scheduled for Saturday night, should check back on their website, or phone the Box Office (250-748-7529).
