The Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce is bidding “a fond farewell” to RCMP Supt. Ted De Jager, who has recently transferred from the Penticton detachment to a new position at the RCMP headquarters in Surrey.
“We would like to thank Ted De Jager for his service in Penticton and wish him the very best in his new posting,” wrote the chamber in a release. “Under his keen watch, staffing is at an all-time high and he opened the doors of communication between the community and the RCMP by encouraging events such as Coffee with A Cop.”

De Jager’s new role is the officer in charge of service delivery for the province out of the Operations Strategy Branch in Surrey. His replacement was announced at the end of August; Insp. Brian Hunter from the Port Alberni RCMP detachment is replacing De Jager as superintendent in the Penticton RCMP detachment.
