Penticton firefighters are carrying on their Christmas tree pick-up tradition, raising money for their local Firefighters Charitable Society, Muscular Dystrophy and the B.C. Professional Firefighters Burn Fund.
Penticton residents are encouraged to call the Penticton fire department at 250-490-2315 to arrange for their Christmas tree to be picked up by firefighters during their off time.
The trees are then chipped and taken to the Campbell Mountain landfill for the composting program. Residents can also drop off their trees for chipping anytime at the fire hall at 285 Dawson Ave.
A donation to Penticton Firefighters Charitable Society, Muscular Dystrophy and or BC Professional Firefighters Burn Fund is very much appreciated for this service. A donation box is located at the Dawson Avenue fire hall.
You can also drop off your tree for chipping at the fire hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and enjoy a hot chocolate and barbecue hot dog, courtesy of the Penticton Firefighters Local 1399 and local sponsors.
The Christmas tree pick-up service operates from Dec. 27 to Jan. 18. The drop-off service operates from Dec. 26 to Jan. 31.
