The Kampe estate is back on the real estate market.
The huge estate, once owned by the late philanthropist David Kampe is listed at $4.5 million.
This re-listing of the estate, at 435 Green Avenue comes after Penticton city council twice rejected proposals by Broadstreet Properties to develop two rental buildings on the 3.62 acre property.
At the July meeting, the Kampe estate development proposal failed again in front of Penticton city council.
After failing once to get to the next steps with city council, this time around they reduced the size of the development from two six-storey buildings — something residents in the area felt was too much of a leap — to one six-storey building and one four-storey building instead.
Long-term residents in the area were outspoken in the opposition of the proposal citing the size of the buildings not fitting the area, the increased traffic and the environmental concerns for the neighbouring oxbow.
Broadstreet Properties has been in Penticton for several years. Its first rental building is Ridgecrest Place on Duncan Avenue W. They have another rental building Valley Views on Kinney Ave. and Hillcrest Village in Summerland.
The Western News has reached out for a comment from Broadstreet and will update this story when that becomes available.
The new Kampe real estate listing says the 4,600 sq ft two-bedroom, three bath rancher and 1,000 sq ft guest house has a gated entrance and long paved driveway. You can take a look at the listing here.
