Penticton Museum hosting Brown Bag Lecture

Wildlife and Recreation is the topic of the next Penticton Museum Brown Bag Lecture Series

Wildlife and Recreation is the topic of the next in the Brown Bag Lecture Series Nov. 19 at the Penticton Museum and Archives.

The presenter is Brian Horejsi who is a retired wildlife scientist living in Penticton. He worked prevoiusly for the government in forest and wildlife services before starting his own environmental consulting business.

He will be talking about the explosion of recreation as a solution to personal and social well being and as a stimulus to our economic well being which has led to a spike in the use of public lands including protected areas like national parks.

Horejsi will also look at the growing invasion of wildlife habitat by a wide range of recreation-oriented pursuits and industries.

What are the consequences for wildlife? Something that must humans also value as important to their well being will be one of the questions that will be addressed during the session.

The lectures take place every Tuesday in the fall and spring from noon to 1 p.m. in the auditorium on the lower floor at 785 Main St.

Discussions include a wide range of topics from heritage and culture.

Admission is by donation, $2 suggested for adults and $1 for children which includes coffee, tea and confections or bring your own lunch.
