A number of homeless people with shopping carts and bicycles were there talking with police officers at the time of the incident.
Const. James Grandy of the Penticton RCMP said one person was taken to hospital. The victim’s condition is not known.
That location has been a popular spot for the homeless that congregate there during the day and some spending the night there as well.
Police and the City of Penticton bylaw officers make regular patrols in the area as well as the grounds of the Shatford Centre.
