Penticton cannabis dispensary Green Essence was paid a visit by local RCMP Monday morning advising the shop cease selling cannabis at the site.
“Officers with the Penticton RCMP’s Targeted Enforcement Unit attended the Green Essence marijuana dispensary. Officers warned that should they continue to sell illegal marijuana, there may be enforcement action taken. The Green Essence store advised they would shut their store down.”
In a phone call, Green Essence employee Kelson Wong said it was “a disappointment for the whole community,” and confirmed the store would no longer be selling cannabis.
However, the store will remain open, Wong said, to continue its operations as a head shop, selling items like pipes and hemp products.

The warning comes about a week-and-a-half after RCMP raided Okanagan Falls dispensary Herbal Green Apothecary, run by Jukka Laurio.
During that incident, on May 30, police were seen carrying out numerous boxes of items. Police said an investigation into that business had been going on for a few weeks.
Grandy said he was “not sure” that the OK Falls dispensary had not received a warning prior to the raid.
