A man waving a knife and yelling aloud drew police attention in Oak Bay on Jan. 24.

Oak Bay officers charged a man with possession of a dangerous weapon and causing a disturbance after taking him into custody in the 2000-block of Haultain St.

“I’m very pleased with how our officers handled this volatile situation. They were able to ensure everyone’s safety including that of the accused,” said Deputy Chief Ray Bernoties.

Police determined the man was intoxicated and under the influence of unknown narcotics. He was taken to the hospital to be medically cleared and later charged.
