A vehicle crashed off the second storey of a parkade at the University of British Columbia Wednesday morning (Jan. 17), leaving one person trapped inside.
Vancouver Fire Rescue Services said its members were on the scene of the Thunderbird Parkade around 9:30 a.m. working to rescue the individual. According to spokesperson Matthew Trudeau, the vehicle went through “a significant concrete barrier” and crashed to the ground.
BC Emergency Health Services said two ambulances, an advanced care unit and a supervisor were still on scene as of 2 p.m. and that it couldn’t comment on the condition of the trapped person.
UBC said the parkade is closed until further notice. People already parked inside won’t be able to access their vehicles until it has reopened.
Black Press Media has reached out to RCMP for comment.
