Mission Farmers Market is officially open for its 25th continuous season.
Mission’s new mayor, Paul Horn, and MLAs Pam Alexis and Bob D’Eith officially kicked off the event with a ribbon cutting on May 1, after a short speech was given by Mike Gildersleeve, president of the market.
“Looking forward to another season of nourishing, sharing and celebrating our community,” Gildersleeve said in a news release. “This will mark the twenty-fifth year that Mission City Farmers Market has been in operation!”
A lineup of eager customers waited at the entrance, before flooding into the Welton Common parking lot, located at the corner of 2nd Avenue and Welton Street.
Public health notices and reminders were posted up around the parking lot, and sellers and buyers kept a safe distance from one another.
The market is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday until Oct. 3.
