One woman is in custody and a man is on the run after playing bumper cars in a Langley shopping mall parking lot Wednesday.
Langley RCMP was called in the very early morning, July 5, for a report of a Dodge pickup and trailer crashing into five vehicles and a building in a Langley City parking lot in the 5600 block of 200 Street.
Police were told the truck left the lot and was travelling north on 200 street. Officers were able to locate and stop the vehicle.
The driver, a 20-year-old woman of no fixed address, said she was unaware she had damaged vehicles and then attempted to jump out of the truck and run from police. She was arrested quickly and was issued violation tickets for fail to remain at the scene, possess open liquor and having a defective vehicle. So far, she isn’t facing criminal charges.
Police were told a man was seen running from the vehicle near the collision scenes and is believed to have been the driver prior to and during the collision, said Cpl Holly Largy.
The trailer was unhooked from the pickup in the lot and was towed as an abandoned vehicle.
Police believe the driver fled as he was wanted by police on outstanding warrants.
