A Northwest Bay Road closure has been extended a few extra days.
The twin corrugated steel pipe culverts at Craig Creek on Northwest Bay Road just west of Terrien Road at the City of Parksville’s boundary are undergoing replacement. To facilitate this work, Northwest Bay Road has been closed to all traffic. The closure has been extended to 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20.
The City of Parksville, in a press release, apologized for the delay, which it said is necessary to complete the work. The delay is due to late delivery of the watermain bypass piping and subsequent water transmission main connection and road excavation.
Once the road reopens for traffic, there will be single lane alternating traffic on Northwest Bay Road from Aug. 20 until Sept. 16. Motorists are advised to expect delays during this period.
