Two Pitt Meadows schools were briefly placed under a hold and secure on Wednesday afternoon as police responded to a suspicious call.
According to the Ridge Meadows RCMP media unit, police received a suspicious call from a man who identified himself as a resident in the 19300-block of 121st Avenue at approximately 11:30 a.m.
“Out of an abundance of caution, police held and secured the areas of Pitt Meadows Elementary and Davie Jones Elementary schools and provided support and precautionary resources,” said Ridge Meadows RCMP.

Members of the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team and the Integrated Police Dog Service responded to the area, but no threat was identified.
“Police attended the residence from which the male caller claimed he lived and determined that any threat was unfounded,” said the RCMP.
The schools were placed under a hold and secure from approximately 1 to 1:45 p.m., during which classes continued as normal.
