Pitt Meadows woman arrested after violent car robbery in Richmond

The woman along with a 28-year-old man from Delta arrested in Vancouver

A woman from Pitt Meadows was arrested in Vancouver Monday morning following a violent car robbery.

Richmond RCMP were called to a residence in the 5000-block of Walton Road at around 7:30 a.m. after a woman in her mid 40s had her 2007 Toyota SUV stolen as she was starting the engine.

The suspect, a male wearing dark-coloured clothing, allegedly approached the woman in the car before producing a weapon and smashing a window.

He fled in the vehicle, leaving the woman, who sustained non-life threatening injuries, behind. She was visibly shaken and transported to hospital.

Neighbouring police agencies were notified to be on the lookout for the dark-coloured SUV after Richmond RCMP were unable to locate it.

The vehicle was eventually located just before 9 a.m. in the area of Boundary Road and East Hastings Street by the Vancouver Police Department.

A 28-year-old man from Delta along with the 21-year-old woman from Pitt Meadows were arrested in connection to the stolen vehicle.

Both were turned over to the Richmond RCMP, whose General Investigative Section has taken over the file.
