Get ready for some time in the dark next weekend.
BC Hydro has scheduled a power outage starting on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 11 p.m. and concluding on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 3 a.m. affecting Lake Cowichan, Mesachie Lake, Youbou, Honeymoon Bay and the surrounding area.
“We need to switch off power in your area for about four hours while we conduct system maintenance,” BC Hydro advised in a press release. “To keep our crews and the public safe, power must be switched off while we complete this important work.”
Hydro said that people should plan to turn off all lights, electrical heaters, major appliances and unplug all electronics prior to the lights-out time to protect their equipment from potential damage during the outage.
“We’ll restore power as soon as we can,” the utility promises.
