There is still no timeline as to when Highway 3A between Keremeos and Penticton might be fixed.
An early morning mudslide in mid-April brought down about three-Olympic size swimming pools of debris. The debris flowed over the highway into Yellow Lake causing a portion of the road to erode away in the mix.
The road was closed for several days before reopening to alternating single lane traffic. The road is still only one lane in that portion.
“The ministry is now in the final stages of comprehensive engineering work for this complex situation. Once we have confirmed our engineering solution, we will be able to determine the best option for repairs as well as a timeline. In the meantime, crews continue to repair the damage caused by the earlier rock slide,” a statement from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure stated.
