Anyone looking for a chilly start to 2015 in the Central Okanagan had a few choices Jan. 1, including Polar Bear dips into the cold water of Okanagan Lake in both Kelowna and Peachland.
Hundreds turned out to take to the lake in Peachland on Thursday, while more swimmers, and warmly dressed spectators watching them, turned out at Tugboat Bay in Kelowna’s Waterfront Park.
While the Peachland dip has become an annual tradition for many over the years and regularly attracts a few hundred “swimmers”, the Kelowna event is new and held it’s inaugural immersion into the chilly waters of the the lake this year to help raise money for CRIS Adaptive Adventures, a charity that aims to allow people with cognitive and physical disabilities experience the great outdoors.
