Driver flees, leaves ID
When the police lights came on behind him, the driver of a smokey pickup fled his truck, but left his identification and a passenger behind.
The incident occurred on May 24, around 2 a.m., when an RCMP officer spotted the pickup with a faulty exhaust system.
When the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver fled, but the passenger was still in the cab, along with the driver’s jacket and identification.
The driver was unlicenced and police didn’t say if he was immediately caught. However, his truck was impounded.
Shots at campsite
Three men received 24-hour firearms prohibitions after firing guns at a campsite beside Upper Campbell Lake.
Police, along with Conservation Officers, were called out to the campsite on May 22 at 4 p.m.
When they arrived, they found three males who had been drinking and firing weapons.
According to RCMP, families who were camped in the area thanked police for their response
Tires slashed on vehicles
Police are investigating an incident of mischief where tires were slashed on six vehicles.
The incidents occurred overnight on May 21-22, in the 100 block of Utah Place. Licence plates on two of the vehicles were also stolen.
Also, overnight on May 22-23, a window was smashed out on a vehicle parked in the 1300 block Island Hwy.

Impaired driving, again
A man was stopped for impaired driving, two times in two days.
On May 27, he was stopped in Nanaimo and given an immediate roadside suspension for drinking and driving.
The following day, at 11:45 a.m., police in Campbell River received a report of a weaving car with a possible impaired driver.
It turned out to be the same man who refused to provide a breath sample.
He was arrested and is facing charges.
