Police are still searching for the perpetrator of a robbery at the Co-op Gas Bar which took place April 10 at 9:47 p.m.
A lone man entered the store and demanded money from the clerk before fleeing on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapon was produced and no one was injured.
The suspect is described as approximately 6-feet tall with a muscular build. He was wearing a black ski mask, big sunglasses with purple lenses, a black hoodie, blue jeans, white runners, red gloves and was carrying a red and black backpack. A police dog was brought in to track the suspect, but the suspect could not be located.
Facing fraud
A smashed out rear window was the catalyst for arresting a fraud suspect on April 11.
At 10:30 p.m., an officer observed a blue 1992 Toyota Tercel with a smashed window in the 600 block of 10th Avenue SE. It was also noted there was no valid insurance for the vehicle. The 40-year-old Salmon Arm driver was recognized by the officer, who was made aware that he had recently purchased a vehicle with a fraudulent bank draft. The man was arrested for fraud and was cited for Motor Vehicle Act offences.
Vehicles stolen
There has been a rash of auto thefts in the Salmon arm area. On April 7, a white Dodge Caravan was stolen from a residence in the 1700 block of 65th Street. April 8 saw a white 2002 Ford F250 pickup truck stolen from the Wes Bowie sales lot. A white 1997 Ford F250 pickup truck was taken from the 5200 block of Auto Road and a red 1996 Chrysler Intrepid was stolen from the Centenoka Park Mall parking lot. On April 9, a stolen 2003 Ford F350 pickup truck which had been stolen from Grindrod early in the day was recovered in Gleneden near 50th Street SW. It was towed to be examined by the RCMP Forensic Identification Section.
Knife pulled in dispute
Just before midnight April 5, police responded to a reported disturbance in the Old Dog Pub parking lot. While en route it was learned that one male had threatened another with a knife. Investigation revealed that the 50-year-old male victim had attempted to break up a dispute between two other men and a woman when one of the men threatened him with a knife. The suspect had fled but he was located by police in the 300 block of Second Street SE and arrested. The 21-year-old is facing a number of charges.
