100 Mile House RCMP responded to 153 complaints and calls for service during the past week.
Grow op busted
On July 22, 100 Mile House RCMP were called to check on the well-being of two Lone Butte residents.
Upon arrival, the residents were not home. An illegal marihuana grow operation was discovered.
While police were guarding the scene waiting for a search warrant approval, the residents attended the property and were arrested and later released on a Promise to Appear in court once the search-and-seizure of marijuana was completed.
A total of 50 marijuana plants were seized. Charges are pending for Production of Marijuana contrary to Section 7(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Stolen vehicles located
On July 22, 100 Mile House RCMP received information that a stolen truck was located in a local shop building.
Police investigation led to the arrest of one 100 Mile House male. A search warrant was obtained for the shop resulting in the seizure of several other stolen vehicles.
The arrested male remains in custody, while RCMP investigators continue to work on the case.
Women extricated before explosion
On July 21, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a motor-vehicle incident near Crystal Lake involving a single vehicle.
The lone occupant of the vehicle was impaired by alcohol and drugs when she drove head on into a tree.
Williams Lake resident Teddy Bruce, who happened to be camping adjacent to the scene, heard the collision take place.
When he went to see what happened, he saw the female driver still in the vehicle. He went out of his way to extricate the woman from the vehicle, injuring himself in the process and carrying her to safety prior to the vehicle exploding.
Bruce’s heroic actions saved the woman’s life. Interlakes Volunteer Fire Department arrived and successfully extinguished the fire, which had spread into the tree the vehicle struck.
The female driver was transported to 100 Mile District General Hospital by BC Ambulance paramedics. She was later detained for impaired driving, and after being assessed at the local hospital, provided two breath samples showing that she had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.
The female has since been charged under the Motor Vehicle Act and Issued a Driving Prohibition.
Vehicle rollover
On July 15, 100 Mile House RCMP and Emergency Services were called to the scene of a single-vehicle incident on Highway 97 at the 103 Mile.
The male driver of a GMC Sonoma pickup truck lost control of his vehicle while travelling south on Highway 97. The vehicle left the roadway while entering the curve and flipped completely once before coming to rest in the ditch.
The driver was assessed at the scene by Ambulance personnel and then transported to 100 Mile District General Hospital for assessment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle was severely damaged and was towed from the scene.
Police have ruled out speed and liquor as factors in this collision.
