POLICE BRIEFS: Man stabbed at home

A man was transported to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries Sunday night after he was stabbed in his Surrey home.

Surrey RCMP received a call just before midnight reporting the stabbing in a residence in the 13400-block of 112 Avenue. Police found a male in his late 20s had been stabbed multiple times. He was in stable condition as of Monday morning.

A second male was arrested at the scene. The suspect, in his late 30s, and the victim are known to each other.

 

Collision claims a life

A motorcyclist is dead after an accident involving an SUV Sunday night at the intersection of 128 Street and 88 Avenue.

A Yamaha motorcycle was travelling eastbound on 88 Avenue at approximately 7:25 p.m. when it collided with a westbound Lexus RX330 turning left onto 128 Street. RCMP received several 911 calls reporting the motorcyclist was injured.

Bystanders administered CPR to the victim and Surrey RCMP attended, along with the Surrey Fire Department and BC Ambulance Service, but the male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV remained remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Mounties are seeking public assistance. Anyone who witnessed the accident or observed the vehicles approaching the intersection are asked to call the RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

 

Shots fired into South Surrey home

Surrey RCMP responded to a call of shots fired in the 1700-block of King George Boulevard early Saturday morning.

Police were called to a residence at 3:30 a.m. and confirmed several shots were fired into the home. There were no injuries.

Officers canvassed the neighbourhood to speak with witnesses and believe the shooting was an isolated but targeted incident.

An investigation is underway and anyone with further information who has not already spoken to police is asked to call RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

 

Man injured in targeted shooting

Police were called to the intersection of 75A Avenue and 120 Street Saturday at 6:30 p.m. to investigate a report of shots fired.

Attending officers discovered a man inside a silver SUV with injuries related to the shooting, which police say appears to be targeted. The male was treated at hospital for the injuries.

RCMP are seeking more information from witnesses in order to come up with a description of the suspect vehicle.

Commuter injured when car strikes bus shelter

A 51-year-old Surrey man standing in a bus shelter in Guildford sustained minor injuries when he was struck by a BMW which jumped the curb Friday at approximately 10:30 p.m.

The BMW was heading southbound on 152 Street when it went over the curb, struck the shelter, and knocked over a light standard before jumping the median and coming to a stop in the northbound lane a half-block away.

The driver of the BMW is a 21-year-old male from Surrey.

Alcohol has been ruled out as a factor, but police are looking at excessive speed as a cause.
