Police dogged by people disputes

Creston RCMP responded to 68 calls for assistance from April 23-29

Creston RCMP responded to 68 calls for assistance from April 23-29, Staff Sgt. Ryan Currie said on Tuesday morning. Several were of the on-going nature to deal with neighbours’ disputes.

April 23

• A theft of fishing rods was reported from Sanca Creek.

• Threats were reported in regard to a long-standing dispute between neighbours.

• A motorboat was reported stolen in Creston.

• Police investigated mischief to a vehicle possibly stemming from a relationship that is ending.

April 24

• Police found everything to be okay when they conducted a well-being check on request.

April 25

• A suspicious vehicle was reported in West Creston.

• An investigation was initiated with regard to a historic case of a threat with a firearm.

• Another intervention was required into the long-standing neighbours’ dispute in Erickson. (It might be time to consider a user-pay system for this issue.)

• Threats were reported to have been uttered from a moving vehicle.

April 26

• When police spoke to an elderly male who was standing by the railroad tracks in Creston he said his legs were tired. He refused police assistance.

• Police intervention was required in a different continuing neighbours’ dispute, this time in Wynndel.

• Police executed a warrant for an impaired driver on behalf of the Sparwood RCMP Detachment.

April 27

• Police were called to a local business on an assault complaint that arose after an intoxicated mother and son were refused entry by staff.

• In relation to the previous call, police attended a residence after a family fight broke out. Alcohol was a factor.

• A break and enter to a storage unit in Creston was reported.

• Police attended to a noise complaint in Creston.

• Threats were reportedly made between separated parents.

• Police investigated a group of youths who possibly threw eggs at vehicles in town.

• Police were requested to assist ambulance personnel in accessing the home of a patient. The request was referred to Creston Fire Rescue, which complied.

April 29

• Dogs reportedly chased chickens in Erickson.

• A master key for a complex in town was reported missing.

• Charges are being contemplated after a breach of a no-contact order.

• A suspect was arrested and charges are pending after an assault with a weapon took place at a Creston residence.
