Creston RCMP responded to 97 calls for assistance from August 7-14

Creston RCMP responded to 97 calls for assistance from August 7-14, Staff Sgt. Ryan Currie said on Tuesday.

August 7

• A male reported to be highly intoxicated and falling down on Canyon Street was not located.

• A family fight in Erickson required police intervention.

• Police were called to deal with a landlord-tenant dispute that threatened to escalate into a physical confrontation.

• Stopping a vehicle in Erickson revealed the driver was impaired. He was given a 90-day driving prohibition and a ticket for driving without a licence. His vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

• Police assisted a distraught youth who had called a crisis line.

August 8

• A theft of rent money from a residence was investigated.

• Police investigated a breach of a no-contact order.

• Police were asked to assist a local business owner with a client who disputed a bill.

• Police and the Creston and Canyon fire departments responded to a fire in a truckload of hay on Highway 3 near Kootenay Pass.

• A vehicle reported to be stolen from near 46th Street had been towed from a no parking zone.

August 9

• An attempted break-in to a shed was reported in Creston.

• Police assisted a distraught woman who lost her TV connection.

• A theft of electronic equipment from a communication tower near Yahk was investigated.

• Police were called to assist ambulance personnel with an injury from a consensual fight.

• Two youth are paying for damage caused by spray painting a Creston business.

August 10

• An intoxicated female was reported to be attempting to enter a residence in town.

• Police were part of an investigation of an airplane that landed at the Creston airport from the US without proper permits.

• A landlord reporting the theft of items by a previous renter.

• An intoxicated male who called to express concerns about a relationship involving two friends was invited to call back when he is sober.

• Police received two complaints about a large party.

August 11

• A vehicle check in the area of a loud party led to an impaired driver being given a 90-day driving suspension and having his vehicle impounded for 30 days.

• A report of possible gunshots from outside a business on Canyon Street was received.

• A complaint of a female continually harassing staff at a local business was received.

• An investigation about mischief to a vehicle was discontinued when the victim, who knows the offender, would not co-operate with police.

• An erratic driver on Northwest Boulevard was stopped and given a 90-day driving suspension. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

August 12

• Another erratic driver was stopped on Northwest Boulevard and given the same penalties.

• Police referred a report of a campfire at Twin Bays to BC Wildfire.

• Two young girls who walked away from their home were found safe.

• Charges are pending after an Alberta couple was stopped at the Rykerts border crossing with a large quantity of narcotics packaged for trafficking.

• A landlord-tenant dispute required police intervention.

• Police were called to assist hospital staff with a violent patient.

August 13

• An unlicensed driver stopped on Canyon Street was ticketed.

• A vehicle stopped for an incomplete vehicle inspection led to the drinking driver getting a 24-hour driving suspension and a vehicle impoundment.

• When police investigated a male brought to Creston in critical condition with a stab wound to his heart while camping at Shambala they determined the wound was self-inflicted after the ingestion of a number of narcotics.

• A suspected theft resulting from an ongoing neighbours’ dispute was reported.

• Police did not locate a reported impaired driver on Canyon Street.
