Creston RCMP responded to 116 calls for assistance in the two-week period from March 12-26, Staff Sgt. Ryan Currie said on Tuesday.
March 12
• An ATM user reported that her card was stolen when she unknowingly left it in the machine.
• Police received a complaint about an unwanted intoxicated guest repeatedly returning to a residence.
• A suspicious male was reported to have returned to a Creston business after being asked to leave.
• When police responded to a report of an assault with a weapon in progress they concluded the call was a prank, which constitutes a public mischief offence.
• A neighbours’ dispute in Erickson involving aggressive dogs required a police visit.
March 13
• It was determined that a person who caused a disturbance at a medical clinic may have been suffering from mental health issues.
• An ongoing neighbours’ dispute in Erickson continues.
• A disgruntled ex-employee was accused of sending harassing text messages.
• A report of a theft turned out to have been a misplacement of an item by the owner.
• Police executed a warrant for a bail violation on a Creston resident.
March 14
• A shocking report of mischief to property turned out to be electrical contractors clearing a right-of-way.
• When a driver was stopped on Erickson Road for having a vehicle with no taillights working he was found to have been drinking. His license was suspended for three days.
March 15
• A domestic dispute led to one partner throwing belongings out of a moving vehicle.
• An investigation continues after a local break and enter and theft occurred at a Creston business.
• Harassing communications and threats between co-workers was reported.
• Another report of threatening texts was received.
• The suspicious behavior of a youth outside a Creston school was reported.
• A tire was slashed at a Creston business.
March 16
• Police were called to a family disturbance in which an assault was reported.
• A social media poster making general threats was warned about his choice of language.
• Shots were reported in the Erickson area but no criminal activity was found.
March 17
• Police investigated a structure fire in Lister in which there were no injuries.
• A suspect accused of making threats on social media was arrested and charged.
• A homeowner reported a theft that may have been made by a tenant.
March 18
• Police investigated a report of harassment stemming from unwanted romantic gestures.
March 19
• When police investigated a complaint of a broken window a neighbouring youth took responsibility and reimbursement will be made.
• Police are investigating a report of a person making lewd remarks to passers-by outside a residence.
• Police investigated a house fire in Lister in which structural damage occurred, but no injuries.
• A tractor was stolen in Erickson and the owner is pulling for its return.
• A report was made about someone obtaining prescriptions through fraud.
• Police were called to a family disturbance in which a child damaged property.
March 20
• Threating language on social media was reported.
• A group of youths stole a table and chair from a local business and threw them into a nearby ditch.
• A scam over a personal networking site was reported.
March 21
• Harassing text messages exchanged by partners were reported.
• A current partner’s ex-wife was reported for harassment.
• A trailer and snow machines stolen from the Revelstoke area were located in Wynndel.
• A report was made about harassing communications over social media after romantic advances were turned down.
• Snowmachine parts were stolen from a Creston residence.
March 22
• A report of fraud over online “personal” services that were not provided was deemed to be a civil, not criminal, matter.
• Cannabis and smoking apparatus were stolen from a residence.
March 23
• Further charges are being investigated after a drinking driver who did not have permission to be driving a work vehicle was given a 90-day license suspension.
• Charges are pending after police attended to a domestic assault.
• An erratic male who was harassing and threatening people at a Creston business became more aggressive when police arrived. He was arrested and held in police cells, with charges pending.
March 24
• A report of an erratic ATV driver in Lister led police to stop another vehicle in which the unlicensed driver was intoxicated (or the intoxicated driver was unlicensed). Also, the driver was on probation with conditions not to possess or consume alcohol. He was given a 90-day license suspension, charged with breaching probation and ticketed for driving without a license. The vehicle was impounded for seven days.
• A break and enter to a Lister residence was reported.
March 25
• Harassing communications between ex-partners was reported.
• Police got a complaint about harassment over social media reports regarding the complainant’s criminal history.
• A disturbance between campers over an ATV in Yahk was reported.
