Police hope that the public can help identify the driver of a vehicle that police believe may have been first on the scene of the tragic crash east of Vanderhoof.
Police are releasing a photo of what they believe to be a silver Dodge Ram pickup. The people in that vehicle may have information that can assist police in their investigation. Although the photo is of poor quality, police hope that someone will be able to identify the vehicle.
Police were called to the scene of the collision on Aug. 9, 2017, at 5:46 p.m. Once on scene, they discovered that a Chevrolet Cavalier travelling west on Hwy. 16 crossed the centre line and struck a loaded logging truck on the driver’s side fuel tank.
According to the RCMP, initial information received from witnesses indicated that the car may have lost control prior to colliding with the logging truck.
The two people in the car were deceased at the scene. The driver of the logging truck was taken to hospital and treated for injuries that have been described as non-life threatening. The driver has since been released from hospital.
North District Traffic Services (NDTS) continue their investigation into the crash. Anyone who may have seen this crash, and have yet to talk to the police, are asked to contact the NDTS at 250-649-4004.
