Public nap
A person passed out at a bus stop warranted a call to police around 2 a.m. on April 1. When Central Saanich officers arrived at the stop on Wallace Drive behind Stelly’s secondary, they discovered a youth laying on the sidewalk. He was driven home.
Lost and found
A vehicle swiped in Sidney was discovered in Central Saanich in the early hours of April 3. Officers were called to Alec Road for a report of an abandoned vehicle. When they contacted the registered owner, it was discovered the vehicle had been stolen overnight from a McDonald Park Road home.
Sweet deal
A bear, nicknamed Whinnie was on a tasting spree last week in the 5900 block of Old East Road. Saanich Police were called to the area by witnesses who reported the bear raiding bee hives on a property in the area.
Saanich Police and BC Conservation service were called but because of a delay in reporting and the rural nature of the sighting, no action was taken.
“We want to remind our community that bears are in the process of waking from their winter hibernation,” said spokesperson Sgt. Dean Jantzen. “So they will be out foraging for food.”
