Police remain tight-lipped on assault investigation

Saanich Police Department Detective Division is the lead on theinvestigation

Police continue to follow leads on a high-profile assault in Oak Bay last month.

On April 25 7:30 a.m. the Oak Bay Police responded to a 911 call from a home in the 2500 block of Esplanade, near Willows Beach. The caller indicated she’d been attacked with a machete.

Emergency personnel found a 45 year-old with significant injuries to her upper body with what they called an “edged weapon.”

“Since this time there have been a number of resources dedicated to solving this crime,” said Oak Bay police Sgt. Rob Smith, in a news release. “Investigators have received tips from the public and have been following up on leads. Police would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while investigators continue to work on solving this crime.”

By way of the service agreement the Saanich Police Department Detective Division is the lead on the investigation.
