Hear no evil
Jan. 27 at 4:47 pm police received a complaint from liquor store staff after a local man purchased alcohol, presumably for a minor who was sitting in a van nearby. The complainant advised that she informed the teen’s mother, who did not take the news very well and became angry. Police helped settle the matter.
Night vision
Jan. 28 at 12:52 am police stopped a Ford pickup near Ashcroft, driving at 50 kph in a 100 kph zone, weaving back and forth in the driving lane. Police determined that the 73 year old Princeton man was not impaired and he was given a warning about his driving. The truck was full of blankets, food, a cat and other daily paraphernalia. RCMP sent a request to ICBC to review the man’s capability to drive at night.
Off road Hondas
Jan. 28 at 10:18 am police received a report about a Honda Civic that had left the road on Hwy 97C by the Mesa Vista. There were skid marks on the road and footprints in the snow, but the 46 year old Clinton man was uninjured and arranged for help through BCAA.
Beer store served
Jan. 29 at 11:13 pm police served the Oasis Cold Beer and Wine store with a Licensed Premises Check for serving (selling) alcohol to an intoxicated 49 year old Cache Creek man. The officer conducted a bar check at the Oasis earlier in the evening and talked to the man, who was slurring his words and couldn’t stand up without stumbling. The officer told the bartender not to serve the man any more alcohol. He observed the man later in the evening coming out of the beer store with a six-pack of beer, still severely intoxicated. His beer was seized and he was given a ride home and told to pick his beer up at the Detachment when he was sober. The store was issued with the Licensed Premises Check and the Liquor Inspector was advised.
Visit cut short
Jan. 30 at 7:45 pm police were called to a Cache Creek residence by a 41 year old man who wanted his visiting 33 year old girlfriend removed, as the pair had been arguing and she would not leave. Police attended and helped facilitate her departure.
Stranded
Feb. 2 at 2:18 am the hospital requested police assistance in helping a discharged patient return home. The 62 year old Lytton man and his 51 year old niece were both mildly intoxicated and had no way to get back to Lytton. They were taken to the Cache Creek Husky per their request, where they hoped to get a ride back to Lytton.
Disqualified driver
Feb. 2 at 12:14 pm an officer observed a brown pickup without a rear license plate on Hwy 1 by the Oasis. The officer recognized the 33 year old Cache Creek man behind he wheel as having been disqualified from driving. The truck was pulled over and a check showed that his plates had expired in January. He was charged with driving while prohibited and issued a ticket for driving while uninsured.
Making mischief
Feb. 2 at 8:06 pm police were called by a resident of the Oregon Jack Reserve who complained that her boyfriend was being threatened by their neighbours. Police attended and determined that the intoxicated couple were the source of the problem. The officer spoke to the neighbour who said the 45 year old man had been yelling and swearing all day. He and his 65 year old girlfriend were warned to stay away from their neighbour and that their behaviour could land them in jail.
Domestic assault
Jan. 21 – A woman phoned RCMP to report a domestic assault. The victim confided to the complainant that her boyfriend had attacked her at a party the previous evening. Police questioned the victim and noticed bruising on her body. Her boyfriend was subsequently arrested and charged for assault, uttering threats and breaching his probation order which had a no contact condition with the victim. The man plead guilty to the charges and received a three month jail sentence.
Brothers divided
Jan. 22 – Police responded to a fight on North Spencer Rd. betwen two brothers. One of the males accused his brother of having relations with his girlfriend which sparked the fisticuffs. None of the parties sustained serious injury and the men separated themselves prior to Police arrival.
Cougar sighting
Jan. 24 – Several residents near Susana Rd. on the Siska Reserve have phoned the Detachment to report spotting an adult cougar keeping an eye on the neighbourhood. Police would like to remind everyone in the area to stay vigilant and are encouraging further sightings to be reported to BC Conservation Services.
Looking for a bed
Jan. 25 – A Fraser St. resident phoned 9-11 after an intoxicated woman showed up just after midnight and attempted to gain entry into his home. The woman refused to leave the property even after he blocked her entrance to his house. Police attended and arrested the woman for trespassing at night. She was held in jail cells until she became sober and was able to care for her self. No charges were sought by the complainant.
Uninvited guest
Jan. 26 – A woman and her daughter became alarmed after an intoxicated male entered their home without invitation and passed out on the couch. The females left the residence and phoned police who attended immediately. The perpetrator was located by RCMP leaving the home and arrested. The drunken male became violent with police, however was quickly detained without further incident. He was promptly lodged in cells and charged for being intoxicated in Public.
Window smashed
Jan. 27 – A man phoned 9-11 after hearing the smashing of window of a Main St. business. The complainant saw a man walk away from the scene and provided a description to police and he was located nearby in an intoxicated state. He was arrested and attempted to fight the police officers but due to his drunken stupor was easily subdued. The incident remains under investigation.
Street fight
Jan. 28 – Concerned citizens phoned for RCMP assistance after observing two males engaged in a physical altercation on Main St. Upon arrival, police observed one male on the ground bleeding profusely from the head and another in an agitated state standing over him. The angered male ran at the attending officer with clenched fists trying to provoke a second fight. The male was arrested for assault causing bodily harm. The incident remains under investigation.
Inappropriate tires
Jan. 29 – A mini-van travelling on Hwy 1 near Spences Bridge went off the road and flipped over after losing control on slushy roadways. The two occupants managed to escape with minor injuries. The driver was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for driving on the highway without appropriate winter tires.
