100 Mile House RCMP responded to 94 calls for service during the past week. Some highlights are as follows:
Off the road
On Sept. 4, RCMP were called to a motor vehicle incident (MVI) on Highway 97 near Ainsworth Road.
A vehicle was travelling north on Highway 97 and lost control on a corner and went off the road into the westside ditch.
The driver and lone occupant was not hurt. Driver inexperience was likely a factor.
Copper wire theft
On Sept. 2, RCMP received a report of a male walking on the 4000 block of Kitwanga Drive who was believed to have taken items from outside of a residence in the area.
The same male involved in the previous shoplifting incident was subsequently found in a vehicle and was in possession of break-in instruments and copper wire that had been taken from outside of a nearby residence.
The man was arrested for breaching his conditions from the earlier release, mischief and theft. The 42-year-old male was held in custody and detained until court on Sept. 13.
Vehicle vandalism
On Sept. 2, RCMP members received a report that rocks had been thrown at a parked vehicle on the 400 block of Birch Avenue causing some damage.
There is no description of the suspect. It occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m.
Shoplifter bolts
On Sept. 2, police were called to a report of a shoplifter at a business on the 200 block of Birch Avenue.
A male had been observed taking items and then left the store without paying. The store clerk managed to get a licence plate number from the vehicle the male left in. Police will be following up with the owner of the vehicle.
Sign vandalism
On Aug. 30, RCMP received a report of vandalized business sign on the 4800 block of Highway 97 near the 108 Mile Ranch.
A lighted sign had been damaged and the electrical cord unplugged. It is believed to have occurred sometime the previous night.
Shoplifter busted
On Aug. 30, police were called to a report of a shoplifter at a business located on the 200 block of Birch Avenue.
A male known to the staff was observed taking a number of food items. The male who is known to police was located and arrested for theft.
He was held in custody but was released by the courts following a bail hearing.
