Aug. 6
At about 1:30 a.m. the RCMP received a report of a fight between a man and a woman in front of the B.C. Liquor Store. The female reportedly ripped the man’s shirt off and then they left on foot towards Main Street. The 28-year-old woman was later located on Railway Avenue and told police that she had been punched several times in the face and ribs before she left the scene. After examination it was found that she had suffered several broken ribs from the assault. On August 8 the police found and arrested 46-year-old Kevin Glaim in connection with the assault. Glaim was charged for assault causing bodily harm. He is being held in custody pending his next court appearance.
Aug. 7
A break and enter was reported at a residence on the 1000 block of Columbia Street. The complainant said that he had been away all summer and came home to find his home broken into through a small window on the backside of the residence. A Hoyt Razer Tech bow and a black 15×45 spotting scope were taken. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Crimstoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or the RCMP detachment at 250-847-3233.
Aug. 8
A driver was issued a violation ticket for an unsafe start after an accident at the intersection of 4th Avenue and King Street. A 46-year-old driver male driver in a brown GMC pickup was stopped at Fourth Avenue and attempted to cross King Street but struck a red Dodge pickup heading north. Both vehicles sustained some damage but there were no injuries.
Aug. 9
RCMP received a report of a stolen motorbike. The complainant said that her yellow Yamaha 175 had been stolen from her home on the 1500 block of Highway 16. The dirtbike had been left unlocked in a shed and had been taken sometime overnight. Tracks lead from the area to Viewmount Road before disappearing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimestoppers or the RCMP detachment.
