Missing man found
Sept. 16 Surrey RCMP asked the Ashcroft Detachment for assistance in locating a missing man.
Dave Robinson, 56, was travelling from Surrey to Quesnel on Sept. 12 and hadn’t been heard from since. Ashcroft officers were asked to look at the Red Hills Rest Stop south of Ashcroft after a possible sighting. He was no located.
His body was found on Sept. 19 in a small lake 5 km south of Clinton. His pickup truck had gone off the road, down an embankment and into the lake and could not be seen from the highway. He was spotted by passing cyclists. There was no evidence of foul play.
Aluminum rims stolen
Sept. 16 at 11:30 am KAL Tire staff reported the theft of several aluminum tire rims from their yard. The rims were stacked in a pile beside a scrap metal bin and are estimated to be worth $600. Anyone with information about their disappearance is asked to phone the police at 453-2216.
Intoxicated visitor
Sept. 20 just after midnight police were called to a residence on Collins Rd. in Cache Creek after an intoxicated guest became loud and belligerant and refused to leave. The 52 year old Kamloops man left prior to police arrival.
Truck hit in driveway
Sept 20 at 8:50 am a resident on Sunvalley Dr. in Cache Creek reported that his pickup truck had been struck by another vehicle – while parked in his driveway. There was moderate damage to the bumper and grill – the truck was parked facing the street – and vehicle debris in the driveway. The impact pushed the truck against the house. It is suspected that this happened around 2 am.
Loose load on truck
Sept. 20 at 5 pm police received a report of a 5 ton truck on Hwy 1 in Cache Creek hauling a loose load of scrap metal, a piece of which fell off and struck the complainant’s vehicle. The truck was located at the Dairy Queen and the driver, a 59 year old Loon Lake man, was confrontational and belligerant. He was issued a ticket for an oversize and improperly secured load.
Swerved to miss bear
Sept. 20 at 11 pm police attended a single vehicle accident on Hwy 97 just north of Cache Creek when a 29 year old Williams Lake woman swerved to miss an animal in the middle of the highway and hit the ditch with her 2005 Honda Civic. The bear was already dead, having been struck by another vehicle, and was lying in the middle of the road. Her vehicle was pulled out of the ditch and towed for repairs. Neither she nor her passenger were injured. The carcass was removed by Interior Roads.
