Police investigate a shooting Wednesday morning that left one man dead along 240th Street in Maple Ridge.

Police investigate a shooting Wednesday morning that left one man dead along 240th Street in Maple Ridge.

A 33-year-old man with no criminal record was shot dead on a Maple Ridge street Tuesday night.

Ridge Meadows RCMP were called to the 10300 block of 240th Street at 10:15 p.m. after neighbours reported hearing gun shots, following an argument on the street.

Police arrived to find Trevor Koehler collapsed on the street outside his townhouse. He had been shot multiple times.

Koehler was taken to hospital but did not survive.

Sgt. Adam MacIntosh with the Integrated Homicide Team said investigators are looking for a light coloured, white or cream compact import car, possibly a Honda, Toyota or Acura.

Koehler had no criminal record and was not known to police.

“This does not appear to be gang related and the motive is yet to be confirmed,” MacIntosh added.

“At this early stage of the investigation we can say Trevor was the victim of a targeted attack and this was not a random occurrence.  IHIT continues to work with the Ridge Meadows RCMP to determine why this shooting occurred and who is responsible.”

Homicide investigators remained on scene Wednesday morning and had taped off a new subdivision of townhouses.
