Sidney North Saanich RCMP are on the lookout for a Sidney teen who has been missing since last week.
Mikayla Savage, 17, was last seen in person on May 19 and last made contact with her family on May 22.
“There’s been sightings in Sidney and on Salt Spring Island in the last week but there’s no indication of her current whereabouts,” said Sidney North Saanich RCMP Constable Duncan Ferguson.
According to police, the absence is somewhat out of the ordinary for Savage. She had been recently observed in the company of pan handlers on the Saanich Peninsula and may be in the company of a homeless male that has a white pitbull, he said.
Ferguson also said there are indications that Savage could be between downtown Victoria, Salt Spring Island or elsewhere on Vancouver Island. She has been added to the database of missing persons so all police detachments have her description.
Savage is described as Caucasian, 5’0″ tall, 90 lbs with brown hair in dreadlocks and may be in possession of a large backpack.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Sidney North Saanich RCMP at 250-656-3931 or their local police detachment.
