The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) wants to get recovered items back into the hands of their rightful owners.
The APD is now posting photos and descriptions of recovered property on a variety of social media platforms.
Citizens who wish to claim posted items as their own will be required to fill out a recovered-property form.
Sgt. Judy Bird said people are encouraged to keep records and photos of their property, including serial numbers or other identifying marks.
“Having this information will greatly assist in the return of property to you in the event it is lost or stolen,” she said.
Bird suggested that items be marked with a name and phone number or driver’s licence number so police know whom to contact if the property is recovered.
