Police seek witnesses and dashcam footage related to 3-vehicle crash in Abbotsford

Collision took place July 27 on Maclure Road between Trethewey and Gladwin

The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) is seeking witnesses and dashcam footage related to a three-vehicle crash that took place Tuesday (July 27).

The collision occurred just before 6:30 a.m. in the 32500 block of Maclure Road, between Trethewey Street and Gladwin Road.

Police say a red pickup truck was heading west when it crossed the median and crashed into a transport van in the eastbound lanes. The van, carrying 14 passengers, was then hit from behind by an SUV.

The driver of the truck suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital. A family member of the driver anonymously told The Abbotsford News that he had suffered an aneurysm while driving.

All the passengers in the van were either treated on scene or taken to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services.

The lone occupant of the SUV was also taken to hospital by BCEHS.

A total of six ambulances and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene, according to BCEHS.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, WorkSafeBC and Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement teams were all on scene to investigate.

Police say the collision is still in the early stages of the investigation.
