Disclosure statements from Chilliwack mayoral candidates show that Mayor Ken Popove spent the most on his 2018 election campaign of all five candidates.
Popove spent a total of $55,263 on campaign financing according to the just released documents from Elections BC, compared to Sam Waddington ($35,106), and Sharon Gaetz ($29,334).
On Popove’s statement, $46,686 was declared in the “significant contributions” column. Campaign contributions for Waddington totalled $34,589, while Gaetz received $23,915.
Very little campaign cash was spent comparatively by mayoral candidates Dave Rowan ($5,864), who received $150 in campaign contributions, and Brigida Crosbie ($1,836), who received the same amount, $1,836 in contributions.
The information was released by Elections BC Wednesday under the authority of the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
The filing deadline was Jan. 18, 2019.
