On Jan. 8, a complaint was called into the RCMP that a male was breaking things and causing problems in his room at a residence on Railway Avenue. Police attended and were able to make visual contact with the male, who was sitting in his bedroom alone. The home owner invited the RCMP members into the house. When officers looked into the room they saw the male stand up with a knife in his hand and appeared to be prepared to use it as a weapon. Police commanded the male to drop the knife and the male cooperated to allow the police to arrest him without incident.
It was determined that the male was on conditions not to possess any weapons and that impairment by drugs and alcohol may have been a factor.
The male was transported to the RCMP detachment and charges stemming from the possession of the knife are being recommended.
