Clearwater RCMP report that elderly people in the community are being contacted and offered a new medical alert/alarm system.
The caller asks for $30 and says that in return a buyer would get a new machine. The caller says that it would be operational all over the country, and would be cheaper as well.
At this time, the RCMP cannot confirm whether it is a scam or not but ask that people use caution before making any sort of purchase.
It is a poor practice to provide personal, bank account or credit card information over the phone.
