A tow truck carrying another truck with a bucket and boom struck powerlines in the Peardonville area Monday night.

Power went out for at least 500 homes in the area of Peardonville Road and Broadway late Monday night, after a tow truck carrying another rig hit power lines.

At about 11 p.m. the over-height combination of a tow truck hauling a three-ton truck with a bucket-boom tore out a set of hydro wires. The incident also almost brought down a main pole. Crews worked throughout the night and into the morning.

The power came back on around 8 a.m., said a resident in the area.

Police and hydro authorities were not available for comment.
