Power to roughly five Victoria homes, knocked out after a fallen tree branch took out a line, was restored shortly before midnight Wednesday.
According to BC Hydro’s outage list, power was restored to the homes, near the Fort Street and Stanley Avenue intersection, at 11:56 p.m. A tree down across BC Hydro wires was listed as the cause.
Ted Olynyk, community relations manager for BC Hydro on Vancouver Island, said Wednesday evening crews received a call about the downed power line at about 5:30 p.m.
The line laid across Fort Street, as well as on a few vehicles on Stanley Avenue, as crews responded. A portion of the branch, which fell on Stanley Avenue, rested on two of the vehicles.

The Victoria Fire Department, who responded to the scene with two fire trucks, blocked off Fort Street, between Pemberton Road and Carberry Gardens.
BC Hydro crews managed to clear the line from Fort Street by about 6:30 p.m., reopening the road to traffic, before they continued repair work on Stanley Avenue.
