A power outage in Hope and in Fraser Canyon Wednesday night (Nov. 4) affected thousands of residents and is still affecting communities along Highway 3.
The outage in Hope began around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4. Crews had been assigned to all of the outages as of just before 9 p.m. Some areas of Hope got their power back five hours later, around 2 a.m.
The power was out in Boston Bar, affecting just under 546 customers according to BC Hydro. Further down the Fraser Canyon in Spuzzum 74 customers were affected by the outage. The power also appeared to be out in Hope and up the Canyon to Yale, with 1,844 customers affected. A further 1,740 customers in a section of Hope down to Floods also faced an outage.
There was also an outage Wednesday night from Hope to Manning Park along Highway 3, an area where BC Hydro states 1483 customers were affected.
Parts of Highway 3 from Hope to Manning Park were still without power on Thursday morning (Nov. 5) with an estimated 460 customers affected. BC Hydro estimates power would be back on by 4 p.m.
