Power set to be restored after storm ripped through the Fraser Valley

Biggest outage in Harrison Hot Springs affected more than 1,500 households

Power outages were reported across the eastern Fraser Valley after a powerful storm ripped through the region overnight.

The largest outage still active by Tuesday, (May 18) was in Harrison Hot Springs, north of Else Road, with 1,555 households without electricity.

Power is scheduled to be back on by 8 a.m. according to BC Hydro, with the cause under investigation after it went off at 1:41 a.m.

There were other smaller outages caused by trees falling down on wires, including one in Chilliwack north of Industrial Way, and another west of Marble Hill Road, both under 175 households.

An outage on Clay Street in Mission is also under investigation, affecting more than 200 customers.

Hope is also impacted by the windstorm with 17 homes without power in the 59000 block of Lougheed Highway.
