Premier Christy Clark said today that Community, Sport and Cultural Development Minister Bill Bennett will be sent to the Northwest to talk to communities about LNG benefits.
The discussions will centre around opportunities, benefits and challenges to the impending development of liquefied natural gas facilities.
“LNG will bring unprecedented economic benefit to British Columbia, including incredible growth to the Northwest,” said Clark. “We are committed to working with the local municipalities to ensure they are prepared for this growth and have a say in how the benefits are realized.”
Five LNG proposals are currently being considered for the area, three which are definitely eyeing Kitimat.
The BC Liberals have committed to having three plants running in B.C. by 2020.
The three projects expected to develop in kitimat is the B.C. LNG Co-Op, Kitimat LNG, and LNG Canada.
