Princeton Exhibition Grounds grounds get lit right up

A grant has been applied to changing over all the aging lights/fixtures to that of new energy efficient lighting.

For the past year and a half, The Princeton Exhibition Association (PXA) has been working diligently to organize and initiate a five year plan for maintaining and upgrading of the PXA Grounds. With the assistance of Councillor Jason Earle – town  liaison, the group was successful in creating the plan. “Jason is an asset, said Paul Bedard, PXA president, “he was instrumental in getting us organized.”

Upon hearing their direction during the 2012 Annual General Meeting, Area H Director Brad Hope set himself to work to find a way to assist the group of volunteers.

With thanks to the dedication and hard work of Director Hope and the cooperation of the Town of Princeton, a grant of $30,000 was presented to the PXA.

One of the major issues for the PXA has been the cost of power for many years. The grant has been applied to changing over all the aging lights/fixtures to that of new energy efficient lighting.

Hayes Creek Electric was contracted to do the work and has done, “a great job.” Bedard adds his commendation to vice president Danny Kastor. “Danny really got things going with Brad and Jim—you folks have rolled up your sleeves and really made it happen,” he said.

“Our group (the PXA) works very well together,” said Kastor, “We have many projects underway and a great deal of support.”

We have a great relationship and arrangement with the Town of Princeton, Jody Woodford working to repair barns, Mike Grgich working on grandstand (also loaning his equipment for other work on grounds) All Purpose Roofing crew has replaced two roofs and Director Hope has given us the lighting—explains Kastor.

Hope was pleased to assist with the lighting upgrade. “It’s good work,” he said, “and I certainly appreciate the diligence of the PXA.”
