A spring break trip to Europe for Princeton Secondary School students has been cancelled due to concerns over the spreading Coronavirus.
According to School District 58 assistant superintendent Jameel Aziz, the school board recently held an emergency meeting to make the decision.
“I don’t think this comes as a shock to anyone,” he said in an interview with The Spotlight.
Of particular concern was a planned stay in Italy, which has experienced a significant outbreak of the virus.
Twelve students, two school staff members and two district representatives were planning on making the trip.
Aziz said the trip has cost students “thousands of dollars,” however everyone should get back their money.
“Our expectation is that everyone is going to get a full refund.”
