Prolific offender arrested in Osoyoos

RCMP arrested a South Okanagan prolific offender wanted on two separate warrants

RCMP arrested a South Okanagan prolific offender, wanted on two separate warrants, on Wednesday night in Osoyoos.

Jeffrey Pelly, 42, is back behind bars after the Regional Targeted Enforcement Unit apprehended him on Sept. 12. One of the warrants alleges Pelly fled from RCMP on Aug. 21 in a stolen pickup truck.

“Great co-ordinated effort and intelligence led to this arrest. Habitual offenders like Pelly create a lot of crime and use a lot of resources. Very good to have him back in jail,” said Const. Liam McCready in a news release.

In 2015, Pelly was found sleeping in a stolen car and was arrested. He received bail and arrested within 12 minutes of his release as the Penticton Drug Task Force and Crime Reduction Unit said they watched Pelly leave the probation office and smash the window of a vehicle and steal a cash box from inside.

Pelly appeared in court on Thursday and was remanded into custody pending his next appearance on Sept. 26.
