The Regional District of Nanaimo is holding a public hearing to rezone properties located in Electoral Area H near the Spider Lake area.
An application was received by the RDN that proposes to amend the zoning of two lots on Horne Lake Road from RU6 zone to Comprehensive Development Zone to allow development of a gasoline service station, emergency services, fast food outlet, electric vehicle charging station, artist studio, convenience store, produce market, tourist information booth, restaurant and retail store.

There is a another zoning amendment application on a parcel on Yale Road that requests the property be rezoned from Resource Management 1 Zone to Comprehensive Development Zone to facilitate a proposed three-lot subdividision, small sawmill and mini-storage facilty.
The public hearing for both applications will be held Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. Due to COVID-19, it will be a virtual hearing. People may attend by joining the Zoom session via telephone or over the internet via smartphone, tablet or computer.

All persons who consider their interest in their property to be affected by either of the proposed bylaws shall be afforded an opportunity to be heard electronically or by written submission at the public hearing.
