The Green River Gold Corporation has expanded their control of placer mining rights in the Cariboo.
The company acquired 175 hectares along Sovereign Creek, according to a news release. The area is located roughly halfway between Wells and Quesnel.
“The purchase of the property includes the transfer of exploration permits,” the release reads. “The previous operation had a technical report written on the potential of the newly acquired property. Green River Gold Corp. intends to to verify the results of the technical report in the 2021 season.”
The person putting that report together is also new to the company. In the same news release, Green River announced they were hiring Stephen Kocsis as their lead geoscientist.
“Our team knows of no geologist with Steve’s depth and breadth of knowledge of the geology in the Cariboo region, particularly in the area of our existing mineral and placer claims,” CEO of the company, Perry Little said in the release. “He is one of the few geologists that we have encountered who has both an extensive knowledge of and hands-on experience with placer mining as well as hard rock projects. We could not ask for a better fit.”
The release notes Kocsis will work with mine manager and 2020 B.C. Conservative MLA candidate Kyle Townsend on development and exploration at another project in the area. Kocsis also consults with Omineca Mining, which owns land adjacent to Green River.
