Quiet start to 2017 for Trail RCMP

No driving citations for West Kootenay New Year's Eve revellers

From the RCMP’s point of view, 2017 couldn’t have started out any better.

Despite New Year’s Eve falling on a Saturday night and with many people making big plans to ring in 2017, everything was rather quiet from a law enforcement point of view.

“No impaired drivers caught and no alchohol-related accidents,” said RCMP Sgt. Darren Oelke.

“New Year’s Eve historically can be busy or it can be very quiet. Luckily for us, even with New Year’s Eve on a Saturday night, people behaved themselves.

“I hope this tells me that people are being responsible and choosing to use a safe option for a ride home.”
