I am running for Mayor of 100 Mile House because I think it is time for change and I feel I am the right person to bring about that change.

I was born and raised in 100 Mile at a time when it was full of young families and promise. I want to return 100 Mile to that time. Not by going backwards, but by moving this town forward with new industry, new young families and community sustainability.

I bring the experience of a Cariboo Regional District Director for six years, working the CRD and the District of 100 Mile House. I have been involved in many local organizations during the past 30 years, been on many executives, and realize leadership is key to getting things done.

We need to work together as a Council, District and South Cariboo to get things moving. I am a team player and have proven this with all of the organizations I have worked with, including the CRD and past mayors and councils.

Focusing on the obtainable, promoting our eco-tourism, ranching, agriculture, homegrown products and turning them into production and jobs.

Lets get with the times and grow our recycling to the level it should be extending the life of our landfills and keeping costs down of managing our solid wastes. This can be done right here with local businesses and create jobs.

We need better access for our seniors and young families, more sidewalks and better access for strollers, wheelchairs and scooters. We want a town for all ages, affordable and accessible.

We need new energy on Council, new ideas and someone who will work with everyone to see new ideas come to reality. I am not someone who is afraid to make a decision, or afraid to bring an idea forward to see if it is good for our town.

At the advanced polls on Nov. 9 and on Nov. 19 election day, vote for Maureen Pinkney and work with me to get our town back to being the fun and exiting place it can be for all ages.
